Monique is French-Canadian, early 20s, poised and charming in a way like only a French woman can be. She is attending graduate school at a university in Jamaica when she meets her professor Matthew. He is in the middle of a mid-life crisis and wants to reinvent himself by dating a younger woman, even though he is engaged to be married.
He is an easy mark for Monique, who seizes the opportunity to seduce him, feeding his ego and desire for excitement. Matthew ends up impregnating Monique, even though he has promised to marry his fiancé Emily and start a family with her.
When he learns she is pregnant, Matthew chooses Monique over Emily, feeling it is the right thing to do, leaving his ex-fiancé distraught.
